Together we are both lost And it is not the winding path in front of us that is the cause Neither of us should feel left out That we love each other there is no doubt And even though we must come to an end Let us part sweetly as old friends The foundation of our core has withered away Time has aged us day by day And slowly we have grown apart But you will always remain within my heart And perhaps, some day, many years from now We will both look back, in awe at how We parted not as lovers scorned But as two people who separately soared Together we came to a fork in the road Lovingly, two different paths we chose And yet the roads ran parallel for so long It was as if you never really had gone. And many years later down the road When we have both grown white haired and old We will sit together to wait out the cold A comfortable silence taking hold In front of the fire, hand in hand Not as lovers, enemies or wife and man But as two people at the end of their days Waiting for death to come bring them away Supporting each other as best they can Smiling mischievously, knowing they’re damned Sharing memories from times gone by And perhaps you remember them, slightly differently than I Yet no matter the story the result is the same I love you and you love me therefore, nothing ever really changed
